The GM College, one of the oldest and the largest colleges in Odisha, owes its origin in 1944 to the strong initiative, determination, and tireless efforts of the people, including intellectuals and academicians, of Sambalpur and their intense yearning for quality education.
Initially known as Sambalpur College, it was later renamed in 1949 as GM College after Gangadhar Meher, a renowned Odia poet and a worthy son of the soil.

Self-Financing BBA Course
You will be studying for a Bachelors’s Degree in BBA course for 3 years. Three years shall be spread over a period of six semesters and three academic years. The BBA program usually focuses on general business courses and advanced courses for specific concentrations. The degree also develops the student’s practical, managerial, and communication skills, and business decision-making capability.
Many programs incorporate training and practical experience, in the form of case projects, presentations, internships, industrial visits, and interaction with experts from the industry.
Self-Financing B.Sc. IST Course
B.Sc. Information Science & Telecommunication is an undergraduate degree course in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, and Telecommunication and their applications in Self-financing Program. You will be studying for BSc IST Course for 3 years and divided into 6 semesters.
In B.Sc. IST Course there were other computer courses like Operating System, Database Management System(DBMS), Computer System Architecture, Oracle, Design, and Analysis of Algorithms(DAA), Data communication & Networking, Data Structure, Software Engineering, Computer Graphics, core programming languages like ‘C’, C++, and ‘java’.
Self-Financing Computer Science
The duration of the course is 3 years and is divided into 6 semesters. The Self Financing Computer Science was established in 1998 under the aegis of the Department of Physics. Although established in 1998, the Department got its own identity in 2017.
For the students, there are two well-configured computer laboratories. There is also a well-equipped seminar library with 1,000 books for students and staff. There are also many opportunities for students to study in Self Financing Computer Science Course.
Self-Financing Integrated BA B.Ed and B.S. B.Ed Course
The duration of the course is 4 years Integrated B.Sc. B.Ed. and B.A. B. Ed. course on self-financing mode since 2016. Students also have 50 seats to study.
